The first thing to know is that this is not a like-for-like comparison. Loggers and sensor kits observe equipment run by somebody else's controller; CoolTech is the controller. That is why the bottom rows read the way they do. And if you run one reach-in and check it daily, a logger is fine — we will tell you so.

A single reach-in in a shop where somebody is present every day does not justify a controller. Buy a logger.

Domestic or hobby refrigeration

This is commercial equipment for commercial consequences. A home chest freezer needs a $30 alarm, not this.

You need it tomorrow and nobody can wire it

Installation needs a refrigeration technician. If nothing can be touched this week, a wireless sensor buys you time — call us after.

Comparison questions

What is the difference between a temperature data logger and a monitoring system?

A data logger records temperature to be read later; a monitoring system reports continuously and alerts while a problem is still happening. The distinction matters most during a failure: a logger produces an accurate record of a loss you could have prevented, while a monitoring system gives you the window in which to prevent it. CoolTech does both — it produces the same compliance record a logger produces, and alerts during the event.

Are wireless temperature sensors enough for a walk-in cooler?

Wireless sensor kits handle monitoring and alerting, and for a single small operation they can be sufficient. Their common limits are that they alert on an instantaneous reading rather than a sustained breach — which produces false alarms every time a door is held open — that they cannot change anything on the refrigeration unit, and that many stop recording entirely when the internet or the hub goes down. CoolTech filters on sustained breaches, controls the unit, and keeps recording through an outage.

Do I still need manual temperature checks if I have CoolTech?

For the record itself, no — CoolTech records continuously and generates the log. Some operations keep a reduced manual check as a sanity check on sensor placement, and some jurisdictions or corporate programmes require a documented visual check regardless. Confirm your specific requirement with your local health authority.

Can CoolTech replace an existing refrigeration controller?

Yes. CoolTech controls the refrigeration cycle itself — compressor, fans and defrost — so it replaces the unit's controller rather than sitting alongside it. That is what makes remote setpoint and defrost changes possible. Monitoring-only deployments are also supported where an operator wants visibility without handing over control.
